September 21, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Who’s That in My Garden? presented by Jane Grillo
There are approximately 140 species of butterflies found in Illinois, of these 25 to 30 are most common in the home landscape. So, who is that in my garden? How can I attract more? We’ll cover tips for identifying the most common butterflies and what to plant to attract specific species.
Janie has a B.S. in Biology from SUNY at Fedonia. She was employed for 8 years at The Natural Garden in St. Charles, and has been employed at Midwest Groundcovers since 2011. She designed and coordinated a handicap accessible therapy, sensory, butterfly garden at an equine-assisted therapy facility and has tagged monarch butterflies for Monarch Watch since 2002. Janie has over 14 years of experience presenting to garden clubs, garden centers, schools, churches, museums, etc. Nature permitting, classes in summer and early fall will include live butterflies, caterpillars and/or chrysalides.
