Garden Club Meeting – Your Home Landscape: From Glum to Gorgeous with Groundcovers

June 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Laura Christensen will present ” Your Home Landscape: From Glum to Gorgeous with Groundcovers!”  Do you feel that your home landscape is missing something? Does it not look quite complete, like those gorgeous yards in the gardening magazines?  Do you want to know a secret?  You probably need groundcovers!  Laura will talk about this often overlooked component of the home landscape.  Groundcovers, for being small plants, can have a major visual impact in your yard.  Laura will talk about a wide range of great groundcovers, including their features, where and how to use them in your landscape and what partner plants they will look best with.  Traditional trailing groundcovers, and both perennials and low shrubs that spread well, will be covered.  Groundcovers are plants that most people can install themselves.  Learn how you can start transforming your own yard from glum to gorgeous this year!

Laura is an experienced landscape designer who has been practicing in the Chicago area for the past 34 years.  She has her Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Master’s degree in City Planning from Northwestern.  She is a 34 year member of The American Society of Landscape Architects.  For 8 years, Laura has had her own landscape design business, Design with Nature, in Wheaton.  Her business has been featured in the Daily Herald’s Home and Garden section.  Laura was the staff landscape architect and a city planner for the Village of Schaumburg.  She is an active member of the Wheaton Garden Club.
