<\/a><\/p>\nSue\u2019s philosophy for her yard is that it be critter friendly with as little grass as possible. The front yard was\u00a0started as an experiment in steppable thyme to avoid pushing a mower up the hill. \u00a0The\u00a0thyme is beautiful, with many different varieties\u00a0all with a different color flower.<\/p>\n
Sue has many beautiful varieties of perennials plus a newly designed herb garden which Sandy Swenson, another club member, helped her design.<\/p>\n Her patio is truly a summer oasis shaded by a beautiful Japanese maple and many other trees and bushes.<\/span><\/p>\n Our next garden was at Jan Buedel’s.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She has planted a new shade garden and we were\u00a0totally impressed because she remembered\u00a0the names of all the different varieties of hostas.\u00a0 Next stop was the garden of Maureen Ernandez.<\/p>\n She claims to be still figuring things out but we all thought she had total control over the gardens.\u00a0 Besides beautiful perennial beds, she has many containers and ornaments.\u00a0 There was also a fairy garden that was made by her daughter, Lily.<\/p>\n On to our President’s garden, Eileen Lucietto.<\/p>\n Her garden has been a work in progress for 18 years.<\/p>\n This year’s addition are two new plantings in the parkway where two ash trees were cut down.<\/p>\n Each year she plants a vegetable garden, overestimating the number of plants the two beds can support.\u00a0 Nonetheless, they enjoy organic greens and vegetables throughout the growing season.<\/p>\n Jane, Patty and Peggy are enjoying the fountain and views of the\u00a0gardens.<\/p>\n Next stop was Judy Boldt.<\/p>\n Judy’s garden was beautiful.\u00a0 There’s a shady courtyard in the front that was lined with\u00a0ferns and colorful impatients.<\/p>\n The star of her gardens were the hydrangeas in her front and back yards.<\/p>\n Beautiful larkspur edged most of her garden beds.\u00a0 Everyone enjoyed her gardens.<\/p>\n On to Jackie Ellsworth where we had our Pot Luck Lunch.<\/p>\n Jackie has a beautiful pool with even more beautiful\u00a0\u00a0hibiscus plants all around the pool deck.<\/p>\n There were small garden areas around the pool and stream.<\/p>\n A\u00a0 waterfall tucked under the bridge that crossed the stream.<\/p>\n Everyone was getting ready for the feast to come.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0She is now into the 6th<\/sup> year of not using\u00a0chemical fertilizers or weed killers in her yard. \u00a0Last October the weeds got the best of her and she had most of her grass cut out and new sod installed. \u00a0She left\u00a0 a large area of the existing grass that was in\u00a0front of her vegetable garden to avoid\u00a0run off from any chemicals that might have been in the new sod.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>She admits to some weeds in her new sod because she still does not use any chemicals but will\u00a0sometimes zap the weeds with vinegar.\u00a0 She claims her garden is a work in progress and we all agreed that she is doing a fantastic job.<\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0Maureen is in her first full year with her garden.\u00a0 They moved in a little over a year ago and inherited a lovely landscape from the previous owners.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0Eileen describes her garden as a sculpture garden featuring her husband Lambert’s work.\u00a0 There is also a sculpture in the back yard entitled Soccer Kids by Utah sculpture, Don Smith.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
