Let us introduce you to the Tri-Village Garden Club of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood.\u00a0 If you have a love of gardening or would like to learn about gardening, native plants, tools, and nature around you, we\u2019re the Club for you.\u00a0 Meet other people with similar interests, knowledge to share, and a desire to learn more.\u00a0 We have interesting speakers who have given presentations on a variety of topics from growing herbs, to bees and the honey they produce from different types of plants, to bison and tall grass prairies, to types of trees and plants that do well in our climate, to how to prepare for spring gardening, and many other interesting topics.\u00a0 We maintain several gardens in our community and have a food pantry garden that supplies a half ton of vegetables to local food pantries.\u00a0 We also get involved with youth and senior programs.\u00a0 Once yearly we have a fabulous plant sale.\u00a0 Annually, we have a member\u2019s garden walk visiting several of our member\u2019s gardens.\u00a0 Once every few years, we have a fundraising garden walk to donate money to students who would like to study to have a career in horticulture or agriculture.\u00a0 We enjoy a members\u2019 potluck picnic in the summer and a member appreciation party in December.\u00a0 Our year runs from January through December.\u00a0 Our January meeting is where we decide the next year\u2019s activities and sign up for committees on which we\u2019d like to participate.\u00a0 Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd<\/sup> Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Streamwood Fire Station 31 at 1204 S. Park Ave.\u00a0 Individual dues are $25\/year. Come and see if we\u2019re a club you\u2019d enjoy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Beginnings or “Where is a garden club when you need one?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1997, Valerie Howells moved to Streamwood, IL and being an avid gardener, she wanted to join a garden club. After checking the surrounding villages, she realized that there were none in the area.  Wanting that connection with other people who loved to garden, she contacted the Garden Clubs of Illinois, and with their guidance she founded the Tri-Village Garden Club which encompasses the villages of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood.  The first meeting of the new club was in October 1997 and many who attended are still active members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
