Welcome

Our Beginnings or “Where is a garden club when you need one?”

In 1997, Valerie Howells moved to Streamwood, IL and being an avid gardener, she wanted to join a garden club. After checking the surrounding villages, she realized that there were none in the area.  Wanting that connection with other people who loved to garden, she contacted the Garden Clubs of Illinois, and with their guidance she founded the Tri-Village Garden Club which encompasses the villages of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood.  The first meeting of the new club was in October 1997 and many who attended are still active members.

WHAT WE DO

Our club meets on the third Wednesday of the month.  We have speakers at least eight times a year, on a wide variety of topics that cover all possible subjects that would be of interest to a gardener.  Some of our topics include: general gardening tips, water gardens, spring bulbs, lawn care, flower arranging, native plants, raising Monarch butterflies, and others. When we don’t have a speaker, we may watch a video, make crafts, or have a group discussion on our own garden concerns.

EVENTS

Some events have included the Streamwood Landscaping Expo, a plant sale fundraiser, member garden walk, Earth Day, Streamwood Chamberfest and the Christmas party held at our December meeting.

Our members have worked on community landscaping projects at the Bartlett Public Library, Bartlett Park, Rahlfs Woods Park in Streamwood, Renzel Reserve, and the Hanover Township Senior Centre.

We arrange field trips to the Chicago Flower Show at Navy Pier, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and other local sites of interest.

Meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 at the Streamwood Fire Station #31, 1204 S. Park Ave., Streamwood.
