Several of our members joined the Tri Council for their summer outing.

The outing took us to the Sagawau Environmental Learning Center located in Lemont Illinois. The Sagawau Canyon is a gorge located in the valley of the Des Plaines River. It is the only such landform in northeastern Illinois. It was a fun, challenging hike through the stream that flows through the bottom of the canyon and the rocks which were quite slippery from the water. Following are a few of the pictures that were taken by Patti Chipman.
Our guide and naturist was very knowledgable about how this canyon was fomed several thousand years ago. Very tricky finding your way along this stream Its amazing that trees can grow into the Dolomite walls As you can see, there are some rocks that are not under the water Wally is leading the way under a fallen tree branch
We had a great time. After hiking through the canyon we all went to a local restaurant for lunch.
